One of our everyday realities is work. Whether you are the CEO of a multi-billion dollar organization, a stay-at-home-Mom, a retail sales associate, plumber, doctor or anything else in between, the way that you approach every day matters. How does your day begin? Do you begin your day with happiness and excitement? Or does your day start with dread? And even more importantly, how does your day end? Does it end with feelings of stress, anxiety, shame, fear? Or do you come home feeling at ease, accomplished, happy?
It is nice to believe that your work isn’t everything, however it does have the ability to affect everything in your life. Living as your best self is just as important at work as it is at home. Being true to who you are with the courage to show it in every aspect of your life, work included, is one of the main components of living a true raw life.
It can certainly be a tough balance - providing for your family financially while fulfilling your life’s purpose with something that brings you true joy. But does it have to be? Does your job bring you joy everyday? If your answer is no, there are two questions that you need to ask yourself. Am I in the right place or is it time to move on? Am I doing everything that I can do to make this experience a positive one?
So I have to ask you - how do you show up every day? Do you show up with purpose? Or do you just show up? When you can start your day feeling energized and eager, you are showing the world the best version of yourself. And when you can end your day feeling accomplished and STILL energized, your family gets to see the best version of YOU when the work day is done.
Big life changes can be scary, but not living life to its fullest potential can be even scarier. Life is far too short to spend your days being exhausted, stressed, fearful or unfulfilled. Every day I feel extremely fortunate that I have found a career that leaves me feeling fulfilled at the end of the day; a career that allows me to balance work life and home life while still providing for my family. Was it scary to make such a big change? Absolutely!
When I first found doTERRA, I was a skeptic. While I knew that I loved the product, I was skeptical about the business. I doubted that this would mean financial freedom for my family. But I channeled my inner warrior - that side of me that is brave all the time - and I jumped in with both feet and it was the BEST jump that I ever took. Close your eyes and think “If I could quit my job and do absolutely ANYTHING, I would....FILL IN THE BLANK." If your answer is anything other than what you are doing right now, what changes do you need to make to fulfill not only your dreams, but your life’s purpose?
Am I saying that you should run out and quit your job? Not at all. But I do believe wholeheartedly that there is a way to bring meaning and purpose to everything that you do. It is deep inside of you - your inner warrior - and that strength allows you to be brave and open and gives you a willingness to surrender yourself to the changes that are necessary to bring you true RAW joy.
Check in with yourself...often. Take the time to assess and then reassess. Ask your inner warrior for the strength to the see the forest through the trees and the courage to make the changes that will bring you joy. Be honest with yourself and start with small changes that help you to appreciate your current job and start every day with a positive outlook, even on the hardest days.
Most importantly, be conscious of the way you approach every work day - both in the morning, and in the evening. You don’t want to sell yourself short of the happiness you deserve - so, be aware. Make a genuine effort to finish your work day as your best self.
I would love to hear how you “filled in the blank”....and are you living it?
